TRCC Invitational Speech & Drama Tournament

Each year, usually in the fall, the Three Rivers Speech and Theatre Department hosts a speech, drama, and debate tournament for high school students in the Southeast Missouri area.   Three Rivers' tournament offers two preliminary rounds for each competitor, with multiple judges in each round, and awards first through fourth place trophies in all events.   The events that have been offered in the past include Prose Reading, Poetry Reading, Storytelling, Duet Acting, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Original Oratory, Impromptu Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Novice and Advanced Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Oratorical Declamation, and Radio Speaking.

The tournament brings approximately two hundred students onto our campus, plus an additional fifty to seventy people from the campus and community who act as judges for all of the events.

The department also bestows two special awards at each tournament:   sweepstakes trophies and a triathlon award.  First, second, and third place sweepstakes trophies are given to the top three schools whose students perform the best in all events they have entered.  The triathlon award is given to the one student who receives the highest ranks in all three events he or she has entered in the tournament.   The links below list past winners of sweepstakes trophies and triathlon awards.
