Biography
My husband and I moved to Poplar Bluff in 1980 from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I had been employed in Atlanta, Georgia, then Albuquerque as a Medical Technologist and came here with my husband. I was immediately asked to look at the possibility of starting an MLT program at Three Rivers so I spent time visiting local laboratories and put together a plan. The state initially approved the program, but would not fund it, so local hospitals donated funds to equip the lab and begin paying a salary. The program’s first class was in the fall of 1981 and the program is still turning out well trained laboratory professionals. In 1996 I decided that I needed a change so when an academic position became available, I applied. I began teaching Anatomy and Physiology in the fall of 1996 and am still teaching in the Biology department. I live in rural Williamsville with my husband, Dr. Robert Cacchione, and have two daughters, Mary Rose and Olivia. I raise miniature donkeys and angora goats and my husband raises flowers and vegetables.
