LOCAL BUSINESSWOMAN TO SPEAK
AT THREE RIVERS PROGRAM
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. – Three Rivers Community College will highlight and honor the role and impact of African Americans in the Poplar Bluff area with a Celebrate Community program at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 24 in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the college campus.
The program was originally planned as part of the Three Rivers’ Black History Month observance in February and was rescheduled to March 24 due to inclement weather.
Guest speaker for the evening will be Three Rivers alumnus and local businesswoman Ruther Miller Anderson. Anderson is a 1980 graduate of Three Rivers, attending the college in the early days of Three Rivers when classes were held in different buildings in Downtown Poplar Bluff. After graduation from Three Rivers she went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in business and is currently completing work toward a master’s degree.
Anderson has worked in the banking industry in Poplar Bluff for more than 30 years. She is married to Charles Edward Anderson and she has one son, Johnny Quentin Miller, Jr. She is the daughter of Mary C. Hollis and the late Rise Hollis, Sr., and is a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
The Celebrate Community program will also feature the musical group Christian Echoes.
The Celebrate Community program is being hosted by the Three Rivers Community College Office of Student Activities, is free and the public is invited to attend.
