STUDENT ART SHOW OPENS AT THREE RIVERS



POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. – Three Rivers Community College will open its Annual Student Art Show with a reception and awards presentation at 6 p.m., Friday, May 2.
 
 The reception will be held in the Art Gallery of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers campus. The reception and awards presentation is free to the public. The Student Art Show will be featured in the Tinnin Gallery through May 16.
 
 Works of art completed by Three Rivers students during the current semester include sculptures, paintings, drawings, and mixed media pieces.
 
 David Porter, a ceramic artist from Ellsinore, is the juror of this year's exhibit. Porter is the director of the Raven Center of the Arts in Ellsinore and has been a professional potter since 1969. He studied Ceramic Arts at Mateo Junior College and San Jose State College and studied under the direction of Vince Rascon and Dr. Herbert Sanders. He has taught workshops in Colorado, Illinois and Missouri. He currently teaches at the Raven Center For the Arts.
 
 Following the Student Art Show reception at 7 p.m., the Three Rivers Music Department will present its annual spring musical, “Seussical” in the Tinnin Center Theater. Tickets for this uplifting and fun musical are $5 per person and will be available in the Tinnin Center Box Office prior to the performance.
 
 The Tinnin Fine Arts Center Gallery is open from 12-3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
