PLACEMENT TEST
SCHEDULED ON THREE RIVERS CAMPUS

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - Three Rivers Community College will administer the COMPASS placement exam for new students at the college’s Testing Center on its campus in Poplar Bluff.

The COMPASS exam will be administered on two days in August in preparation for the upcoming Fall Semester at Three Rivers. The exam will be given in the TRCC Testing Center in the E.K. Porter Distance Learning Center on the main campus in Poplar Bluff. Exam dates and times include:

·       Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 8 and 9:30 a.m., and 1 and 3 p.m.
·       Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 8 and 9:30 a.m., and 1 and 3 p.m.

The COMPASS is a computerized testing program for placing new students. It is not a timed test and exam times can vary from student to student, but most students complete the test in one to two hours. The exam includes sections on reading, writing and mathematics skills. There is no “passing score” to the COMPASS. This is an assessment test and scores are used to place students in the math and English courses where they will have the greatest success. The results of the COMPASS test do not determine admission into college.

There is no cost for the test, but students taking the COMPASS must have been admitted to the college and paid the $20 admission fee. Students may register for the exam by contacting the Three Rivers Admissions Office at (573)-840-9605.

For additional information concerning the COMPASS, call Diane Rodriquez, coordinator of testing and assessment, at (573)-840-9667 or contact Three Rivers toll-free at 1-877-TRY TRCC.

For an admissions application and information on enrolling, go to the college web site at www.trcc.edu, or call (573) 840-9604.  Individuals planning to attend Three Rivers may register on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 12 and 13. Fall classes begin Thursday, Aug. 14, and the last day to add a class is Wednesday, Aug. 20.
