THREE RIVERS READIES FOR ANNUAL HOMECOMING
 
Local students nominated for Homecoming Queen

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. – Students and alumni will celebrate Homecoming at Three Rivers Community College on Saturday, Feb. 23 as the Three Rivers Raiders men’s basketball team square off against South Suburban College from South Holland, Ill.
 
 Homecoming events will begin at 6 p.m., on Feb. 23 with the presentation of the Homecoming Court and the crowning of the 2008 Homecoming Queen. The Raiders will tip-off at 7 p.m. against South Suburban.
 
 Five young women have been selected for the Homecoming Court. Nominated by student organizations, the Homecoming Queen is selected by a vote of the Three Rivers student body. Members of the Homecoming Court include:
 

  • Tiffany Danielle Glastetter of Oran was nominated by the Rivers Ridge Community Council. Glastetter is a freshman at Three Rivers, majoring in general education. The daughter of Nena and Gary Glastetter, she is a 2007 graduate of Oran High School. She will be escorted by Kevin Smith of Kennett.
  • Bobbie Jones of Jackson was nominated by the Lady Raiders basketball team. She is a 2006 graduate of Jackson High School.  Jones is a sophomore at Three Rivers and is the daughter of Terry and Robert Jones. Her escort will be Dee Fane of Hayti.
  • Whitney Modlin of Campbell was nominated by the Raiders Basketball team. She is a freshman at Three Rivers majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Emily and Dennis Modlin and is a 2007 graduate of Campbell High School. Her escort will be Nick Darter of New Madrid.
  • Rachel Williams of Caldwell was nominated by the Raiders Cheer Squad. Williams is a freshman at Three Rivers majoring in business. She is the daughter of Linda and Brad Williams and is a 2007 graduate of Southland High School. She will be escorted by Trevor Williams of New Madrid.
  • Dede Whitlow of Jackson was nominated by the Three Rivers Student Senate. Whitlow is a freshman at Three Rivers majoring in business administration. She is the daughter of Susan and Dean Whitlow and is a 2007 graduate of Jackson High School. She will be escorted by her father, Dean Whitlow.


Music for the pre-game activities will feature the Three Rivers Jazz Band under the direction of Buddy White.  As the queen candidates are presented, the band will perform the jazz standard “Since I Fell For You.”
 
The Three Rivers Student Senate will be selling tickets for a chance to win a basketball signed by Raiders basketball players and other items.  The drawing will be held at halftime. Proceeds will benefit Student Senate community service projects.
 
The Three Rivers Ambassadors are selling tickets to allow one lucky fan to try to make a basket from halfcourt during halftime. If the fan makes the basket, he or she will share 50 percent of the fundraiser’s proceeds. The other half will fund the Ambassadors’ participating in the American Cancer Society’s local Relay For Life project.
 
 All Homecoming 2008 activities will be held in the Arrettia & Herschel Bess Activity Center on the Three Rivers campus. Admission to the game is $3 for adults and $2 for children; Three Rivers students are admitted free with a valid college ID.
