TRUSTEES MEET: RECEIVE AUDIT REPORT,

HEAR PROGRAM UPDATES

POPLAR BLUFF - The Three Rivers Community College Board of Trustees accepted a positive report from the college auditor at its regularly scheduled meeting Nov. 12.

Jim Schmersahl of the accounting firm of Schmersahl, Treloar and Company reported to the board that his firm had completed its audit of the college and had prepared a "clean opinion" and found the audit to be in accordance with government standards.

Schmersahl also informed the board that the audit's final report would offer recommendations on ways to improve "systems and procedures" at the college. This is the third year Schmersahl's firm had conducted the annual audit of the college, and he noted that in that time there had been "substantive improvements on systems and procedures and these recommendations will continue on that path."

Three Rivers President Joe Rozman noted that the audit report was "as good as it gets."

Rozman updated board members on the inquiry initiated early this fall by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).  Rozman said two packets of information has been sent by the college to NJCAA officals. He said the college audit by Schmersahl, Treloar and Company will be forward to the NJCAA when that report is completed.

In addition, an audit from the Missouri State Auditor's office will also be submited to NJCAA.  However, officials with the state office do not know when that report will be finalized.

During the President's Report, Rozman announced that Ron Rains, instructor of Industrial Technology at the college, will be the speaker at graduation ceremonies scheduled for Friday, Dec. 12. Rains is a recipient of the Governor's Award for a Teaching Excellence and has taught at Three Rivers for 25 years.

Shackleford has served as the Nursing and Health Coordinator and succeeds Catherine Wampler, who left the college earlier this fall to pursue a career outside education.

Rozman also announced that the TRCC Foundation will be sponsoring the annual TRCC Employee Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 5.

Trustee James Grassham of Van Buren was unable to attend the Nov. 12 meeting due to health issues. He sent his proxy vote with fellow Trustee Bill Hollida.
