VETERANS DAY OBSERVED AT THREE RIVERS

POPLAR BLUFF - America's veterans were honored at a Veterans Day observance on the campus of Three Rivers Community College. The mid-day event included the students, faculty and staff at the college who have served in the nation's military. The Veterans Day program was held outside the Bess Activity Center on the college campus.

Guest speaker for the ceremony was State Rep. Gayle Kingery of Poplar Bluff, himself a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Kingery said that America's veterans have always represented the best of our nation.

"America's service men and women are the best in the world, and sacrifice themselves to defend you and me, so that we can live in a land that is free," Kingery said. "Thank you to all of you here today who have served in the military. We should all take the time every day to thank our veterans."

Master of ceremonies for the ceremony was TRCC President Joe Rozman. Steve Atwood, network administrator at the college, gave the invocation. TRCC Student Government President Tiffany Glastetter of Oran led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Three Rivers Choir under the direction of Cindy White sang the National Anthem. An ensemble of trumpets from the Three Rivers Band under the direction of Buddy White sounded Taps at the conclusion of the ceremony.

A reception for the college's veterans was held following the ceremony. Lydia Clark of the college Financial Aid staff and Wendy Spradling of the Admissions staff planned the Veterans Day observance.
