Financial Aid
FAFSA Verification
Forms
Students who are selected for verfication in the 2013-2014 year should be notified via their student email of which one verification track (V1, V2, V3, V4, or V5) they are selected to complete. Please consult your student email or your "My Documents" page on the student menu in myTRCC if you are not sure which track you are required to complete. What is verification, and why me?
  • The Department of Education selects 1 of 3 random FAFSAs to be verified, or in other words audited, by the college's Financial Aid Office.
  • If you are randomly selected, the college is required to collect additional documentation to process your FAFSA.
  • For more information see the verification form.
How do I know if I am selected for verification?
  • Read the comment section on your FASFA Student Aid Report (SAR). To do this, go to www.fafsa.gov and select "View and Print Your Student Aid Report (SAR)."
  • The Financial Aid Office will also attempt to notify you via your myTRCC student email.
  • Check your email often for messages from the Financial Aid Office.
  • Check the Communications menu on myTRCC and select "My Documents" for alerts on missing documents.
How do I complete my file?
  • The verification process requires the college to collect additional documents from the student and his/her family in order to verify information provided on the FAFSA. Along with the verification form, the student will need to provide the Financial Aid Office with all necessary documents and information requested.
  • Depending on individual situations, additional documents may be requested as needed. It is the student's responsibility to make sure the Financial Aid Office receives the items requested in a timely manner.
I've turned in my paperwork. How long will it take to process?
  • Verification must be complete in order to receive financial aid benefits. The process does take several weeks, so it is important to submit all completed paperwork as soon as possible.
  • If you are under verification, you will see awards on your student account; however aid will not post to your account until the verification process is complete.
  • Allow up to four (4) to six (6) weeks for general processing time once you have completed your file.
  • Check the Communications menu on myTRCC and select "My Documents" for alerts on missing documents.
I've submitted my financial information. How do I check my status?
  • Allow up to four (4) to six (6) weeks for processing time once you have completed your file.
  • You may receive an updated Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Department of Education which indicates corrections have been made to your FAFSA.
  • Once you receive the SAR allow 5-7 business days for awards to be updated on your myTRCC student account. Check the Financial Aid Menu and select "Financial Status by Term" to view your awards.
  • Check your student email often in case we need clarification or additional information. This is how we notify students of an incomplete file or other issues.
  • It is the student's responsibility to check their myTRCC and student email for all college communication.
I already submitted my verification documents! Why are you asking again?
  • If you had delivered, mailed, or faxed a document, the turn-around time to see it reflected on your student records is approximately 10-14 days. During this time, it is possible that you could receive another computer generated email indicating a document is still missing. If you turned in the document within the past 10-14 days, you can ignore the request.
  • As always, when we find discrepancies with a document, we will email you for clarification.
Has the Financial Aid Office received all my paperwork?
  • We digitally image and track all documents you submit on our system. If you have submitted all paperwork, please know it can take up to 10-14 days for your paperwork to be linked to your file. Because of this, you may receive additional requests for the information submitted within that 10-14 day time period. You may disregard repeat communications received within that time frame.
