Three Rivers Endowment Trust secures $1.5 million contribution
The Three Rivers Endowment Trust has secured a $1.5 million contribution from an anonymous donor toward the proposed Activity Center on the Three Rivers Poplar Bluff Campus.
"On behalf of the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, I want to express our gratitude for this anonymous contribution. A lot of work and dedication goes on behind the scenes, and this is the type of community support that is needed to move this project forward," said Allen Brooks, Endowment Trust member.
The proposed Three Rivers Activity Center will replace the Bess Activity Center as the home of Raiders and Lady Raiders basketball and includes a Sports & Wellness Center and a Sports Hall of Fame. The 60,000-square-foot design features 3,000 improved seats for spectators and a dedicated concessions area. The Activity Center will also provide a venue to host athletic tournaments and other events from around the region, providing an economic boost to the area.
"Three Rivers needs an Activity Center on par with the other junior colleges we compete against," said Gene Bess, Coach of the Raiders basketball team. "A new facility will instill pride and school spirit in athletes, students, and spectators. It will also provide a venue for teams from the school districts in our service area."
The Activity Center project will cost approximately $11 million. Half of this amount has already been secured through a $2.5 million SEMA/FEMA Safe Room Grant and a $2 million bond sale. This donation will go towards the $6.5 million remaining to be raised through donations from college supporters, community members, and Raiders fans.
The Three Rivers Endowment Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization that receives and manages donations on behalf of Three Rivers College. The Endowment Trust provides a mutually beneficial means for individuals and businesses to partner with the college. Fundraising for the Activity Center continues.
