Ribbon-cutting ceremony for new softball clubhouse set for April 16
Three Rivers College will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Softball Clubhouse building on the college's Poplar Bluff Campus on Wednesday, April 16, at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will be open to the public, and all are invited to attend.
"The Clubhouse is a much-awaited addition to our athletics facilities, and we're looking forward to showing it off to the community," said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President of Three Rivers College. "We're proud of our Lady Raiders team, and this will finally give them the permanent home they deserve."
Speakers at the ribbon-cutting will include Stephenson; Darren Garrison, Chairman of the Three Rivers College Board of Trustees; and Dr. Angela Totty, Vice President for Student Success and Senior Athletic Administrator.
The new 4,280-square-foot clubhouse contains practice facilities, a locker room and training area, coaches' offices and a social area for athletes. The new building is the second in a series of planned upgrades to the Poplar Bluff Campus, after renovation of the Academic Resource Commons building was completed in August 2013. Stephenson said that the clubhouse also represents the institution's continued commitment to upholding Title IX, which requires equity between men's and women's athletics.
The Lady Raiders have posted a cumulative 90-36 record over the past two years, taking first place in the conference and second in the region last season. The Lady Raiders have also received numerous academic honors with several team members receiving the title of All-Academic Players by the National Junior College Athletics Association.
