Medical Laboratory Technology program extends deadline
Due to schedule changes caused by weather closings earlier in the year, the Department of Nursing and Allied Health at Three Rivers College has extended the application deadline for its Medical Laboratory Technology program.
Applications are now being accepted through May 14 at 4 p.m. Application forms and admissions criteria are available online at trcc.edu/admissions, or by contacting the Three Rivers Nursing and Allied Health Department at 573-840-9681. Staci Campbell, Chair of the Nursing and Allied Health Department, advises that all admissions materials, including official copies of transcripts from high school and other colleges, be received in advance of the May 14 deadline. Classes will begin with the fall semester in August 2014.
Students in the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program at Three Rivers College learn to use sophisticated equipment and computers to analyze blood, body fluids and tissues to provide test results that are critical for patient care. MLT classes include both lecture components and hands-on training, including participation in the college's yearly Mass Casualty training days.
There is currently a high demand for these well-paid professionals, and many Three Rivers students obtain employment in their field before graduating. Medical laboratory technicians find employment in hospital laboratories, private clinics, research labs, vet labs, industry, crime investigations, forensic studies and public health facilities.
