POPLAR BLUFF - The need for workers with vocational and technical training is growing quickly, and Missouri's governor visited Three Rivers Community College to discuss the issue with college and community leaders.
Gov. Jay Nixon led a roundtable discussion with Three Rivers President Dr. Devin Stephenson and leaders from the college and Poplar Bluff community. Nixon visited Three Rivers to learn first-hand the strategies to help Missourians compete in today's economy. Joining Nixon and Stephenson in the roundtable discussion were Dr. Wesley Payne, vice president for learning at Three Rivers and Kim Shackleford, division chair of health and human services at the college; and Michael Burcham, CEO of Poplar Bluff Medical Partners; Greg Carda, CEO Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center; Steve Halter, executive director of the Greater Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce; and Stan Schultz, CEO of Schultz and Sommers Engineering.
