Career and Technical Advising and Job Placement
Academic Advisors are available to help you explore majors and careers. Individual career
decisions start with a conversation between you and an academic advisor to determine where
you are in the career planning process. The Career and Technical Advising Office has a variety of resources on various careers and technical programs. Information and testing is available to assist students decide their college major. TRCC students may also enroll in a one credit hour course, entitled “Career Exploration”, to explore career opportunities and prepare for the job market. This course is offered as a web course in both the spring and fall semesters.
Where can I learn about available jobs?
The TRCC Job Placement Office, located in the Bess Student Center, maintain updated listings
of employment, both entry-level and professional. These positions may be full or part-time and are usually located within the college service area. “Job Openings” are posted on the campus bulletin boards by employer request.
For additional information, stop by the Job Placement Office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Financial Aid Work-Study Jobs on Campus
Students who are eligible for Financial Aid Work Study may check out the job posting board just
outside the Career & Technical Advising and Job Placement Office door or the Work-Study page. Students are responsible for seeking out the jobs available and speaking to the College staff member in charge of the department. You can download the Work-Study application to drop off at the various college offices.
Are there other types of Job Placement Assistance?
The Director of Career and Technical Advising and Job Placement provides pre-employment classes for students enrolled in Career and Technical courses. Upon the request of the College instructor, workshops on resume preparation, interview techniques, and dressing for success are available. Resumes can be critiqued upon the student’s request.
Students who are in the last semester of their degree program may prepare resumes for the Placement Registration File. Resumes within the file will be forwarded to employers upon their request. After reviewing the files, employers may contact students for an interview. Students who wish to utilize this service should stop by the Job Placement Office for additional information.
Businesses occasionally conduct employment interviews on the Three Rivers campus. Notices of these
interviews will be posted on campus bulletin board, the Three Rivers news page, and the campus televisions. Interested students need to contact the Career & Technical Advising and Job Placement Office to schedule an interview date and time. |
