Ways to save email from an oldmail.trcc.edu account.

Forwarding emails from an oldmail.trcc.edu account to the new mymail.trcc.edu account

This method is good if you if do not have many emails to save. If you have a lot of emails, this method will be time-consuming.

  1. Log into your oldmail.trcc.edu account using the Office 365 portal and choose the Outlook webapp from the side menu.

  2. Find the email you wish to save and click on it.

  3. In the Preview Pane that shows the email, click the Forward button at top left of the pane, or the word Forward at the bottom the email.

  4. In the To: address field, type in your mymail.trcc.edu email address.

  5. Click Send in the grey menu bar above the Preview Pane.

Bulk moving email from an oldmail.trcc.edu account to a new mymail.trcc.edu account

This method is best for moving a lot of emails quickly. Microsoft Office must be installed on your local computer for this process.

  1. Open the Outlook application on your PC or Mac.

  2. If you have not added an email account to Outlook, a window will prompt you to add an account. Add either your mymail.trcc.edu or your oldmail.trcc.edu account by following the prompts. Once completed, add the other account by typing it in the Add Another Email Address box and click Next. Follow the prompts as before.

  3. If your mymail.trcc.edu account that became oldmail.trcc.edu was already in Outlook, you will need to remove it and re-add it. Then you can add your new mymail.trcc.edu account.
    1. Click on File in top left corner. Then click the Account Settings Button, then Account Settings… in the menu that appears.

    2. In the window that pops up, make sure you are in the Email tab. Highlight your old mymail.trcc.edu address. Click Remove.

    3. Click Yes or Ok on any confirmation messages that pop up.
    4. Click the New button in the same window.

    5. Follow the prompts to add your oldmail.trcc.edu address.
    6. Repeat 3d. and 3e. to add your new mymail.trcc.edu address.
  4. Once either step 2 or 3 is completed, Restart Outlook. Click File. Then click the Account Settings Button, then Account Settings… on the menu that comes up (like step 3a.)
  5. Under the Email tab, highlight your oldmail.trcc.edu address and click the Change… button.

  6. Make sure Use Cached Exchange Mode…. is checked. Move the slider under Download email for the past: to the far right so it says All.

  7. Click Next and restart Outlook.
  8. When Outlook opens, it will begin downloading all your emails for your oldmail.trcc.edu account. You can watch the progress in the status bar at the bottom of the Outlook window. Wait until it says All folders are up to Date.

  9. In the Left side Navigation Pane, click on the email mailboxes to expand out the folders for easy viewing. At this point you can now drag and drop the emails you wish to keep from one mailbox folder to another.

Example 1: Moving the entire Inbox folder from the oldmail.trcc.edu mailbox to the new mymail.trcc.edu mailbox Inbox folder

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click the Inbox folder of your oldmail.trcc.edu account. Click any email in the email list.
  2. On your keyboard, hold Ctrl and press A (Command-A for Mac). All the emails in the Inbox folder will be selected and will turn blue.

  3. Click and hold the left mouse button on any of the highlighted emails. Drag the emails to the new mymail.trcc.edu Inbox folder in the Navigation Pane. Release the mouse.
  4. After a few moments, your emails will now be in your new mymail.trcc.edu Inbox. It may take a few minutes for the emails to sync with the Microsoft servers and be available through the webapp.

Example 2: Moving multiple emails from the oldmail.trcc.edu mailbox to the new mymail.trcc.edu mailbox

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click the folder containing the emails in your oldmail.trcc.edu account. Click one of the emails.
  2. On your keyboard, hold Ctrl (Command for Mac) and click the next email you want to move. All the emails selected will turn blue.

  3. Click and hold the left mouse button on any of the highlighted emails. Drag the emails to the folder of your new mymail.trcc.edu mailbox in the Navigation Pane. Release the mouse.
  4. After a few moments, your emails will be in your new mymail.trcc.edu folder. It may take a few minutes for the emails to sync with Microsoft servers and be available through the webapp.
