Stan Berry Honored as Second Annual Distinguished Alumni Recipient
Three Rivers College will honor Stan Berry, the recipient of its second annual Distinguished Alumni Award, at a rescheduled reception at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on Monday, May 15, from 5-7 p.m. The reception will be open to the public.
"We're proud to honor Stan Berry for his unwavering support for Three Rivers and our community," said Dr. Wesley Payne, President of Three Rivers College. "Because of the time and effort put in by people like Stan, Three Rivers can continue to educate our community and help it grow."
Berry, who attended Three Rivers in 1968, was selected for the award by a committee of Three Rivers faculty, staff, and community members. Berry currently works as Editor of the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, where he has been employed since starting as a full-time reporter in 1973. Berry is also a Vietnam veteran, where he served as a reporter/photographer for the 164th Assault Helicopter Company.
"Stan was the choice for this year's Distinguished Alumni Award because he's simply a pillar of our community," said Michelle Reynolds, Director of Development for Three Rivers. "He's served his country, he's served his community for decades as a journalist, and has provided invaluable support to Three Rivers both personally and professionally."
In addition to receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award, Berry has been selected as the Keynote Speaker at Three Rivers' 2017 Commencement ceremony on May 19 at the Black River Coliseum. Along with his degree from Three Rivers, Berry holds a degree in Journalism from Arkansas State University. He resides in Poplar Bluff.
Those wishing to attend the May 15 recognition reception should RSVP with Michelle Reynolds at email@example.com or 573-840-9077.
