Three Rivers College celebrates Liberal Arts Week with 7 days of events

Writing, theater, art, and music will be represented during the Three Rivers College Liberal Arts Week, Tuesday, April 9, to Tuesday, April 16. Students, TRC faculty and staff, and community members will be participating in the events, which are open to the public.

Big G’s Open Mic Fist Fight Poetry Slam is being held at 6 p.m. April 9 in the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, Room 108, on the TRC Poplar Bluff campus. This year’s theme is “One Small Step”—based on the July 21, 1969, Lunar Landing. Readings may cover any topic. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend and participate.

“Confluence,” the annual literary journal of Three Rivers College, will be distributed free of charge at the April 9 open mic poetry event. Content for “Confluence” is selected from poetry, short stories, and essays submitted by the College’s students, faculty, and staff.

Center Stage, the Three Rivers College community theater group, will perform “Clue: The Musical” April 11-13 at 7 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers campus. Tickets are $10 each and are available online at trcc.edu/tinnin, and at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and the TRC Student Accounts Office. Tickets also will be sold at the door.

Coinciding with World Art Day, the TRC Art Department will host its “Writing Rocks!” art activity at 6 p.m. April 15 in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.

TRC Music students will share their musical talents and passions at the “Imagine: The Future,” recital at 7 p.m. April 16 in the Tinnin Theater. Admission is free.
