SkillUP is a program for Food Stamp recipients to gain skills, training, and/or work experience. SkillUP is FREE through our partners and can help prepare you for a job that can raise your income.

Program Benefits

  • SkillUP will fully pay for training. Classes can be finished in a short time frame.
  • SkillUP coaches can help with resume and interviewing skills.
  • SkillUP can help with transportation expenses.
  • SkillUP can help with certain expenses that may be needed to start employment.

Eligible Applicants

Any individuals currently receiving Food Stamp benefits.

Available SkillUP Trainings

Commercial Driving

This five-week, 200-hour program prepares students by offering classroom, simulator, and driving training. The first two weeks focus on the Missouri Class A CDL permit through classroom and simulator training. The final three weeks are used for driving training to successfully complete the test requirements for Missouri Class A CDL Driver License.

Heavy Highway Construction, Level 1

The Heavy Highway Construction Level I course gives students an overview of skills and knowledge needed for an entry level construction position. This includes an orientation to the trade, identification of equipment used, site work, construction math, rigging practices, principles of cranes, and safety. Students will receive a certificate from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) upon completion. Students will also receive their Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 card and flagger training certificate. The course is 240 contact hours.
