From Barbra Streisand and Petula Clark to Dusty Springfield, Joni Mitchell, Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, and more, Welch pays tribute to the remarkable women whose voices and artistry helped shape generations of music.
Featuring timeless songs spanning genres and decades, the show also shares stories and anecdotes that offer a glimpse into the lives and legacies of these extraordinary performers. With Welch’s captivating vocals and engaging stage presence at the heart of the evening, The First Ladies of Song is a celebration of unforgettable voices, beloved songs, and the women who made them famous.
About Helen Welch
A native of England, Helen Welch is a critically acclaimed vocalist and entertainer who has performed with the BBC Big Band, Glenn Miller Europe, Opus One, and other renowned ensembles. Her career in the UK included appearances at prestigious venues such as The Ritz, The Savoy, Claridge’s, Grosvenor House, and Blenheim Palace.
Welch has also starred in a variety of popular musicals, including Hello, Dolly!, Barnum, Carousel, The Music Man, 42nd Street, and Oliver!. Her successful career eventually brought her to the United States, where she has performed with leading orchestras and arts organizations including The Cleveland Orchestra, Playhouse Square, Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Breckenridge Music Festival, Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago, Akron Symphony Orchestra, and others.
