Built in 1982, the Arrettia and Herschel Bess Activity Center was a central hub for College and community events. From basketball games, Christmas breakfasts, work lunches, community conventions, high school contests, and Nursing simulations.
The Bess Activity Center has seen many updates and renovations over the years, and finished a complete remodel in 2026. Now, it’s ready to serve the next generation of students and our community.
Through our partnership with Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation, you can take a variety of fitness classes in the Bess Activity Center. We also have a fitness room with weight and cardio machines, basketball and pickleball courts, and more. Visit the Parks website for full details.
Unlimited Fitness Classes
There are nearly 20 different classes to choose from. Get in some early morning cardio, evening yoga, or meet up with friends for our weekday 9 a.m. Silver Sneakers class.
Cardio and Weights
The fitness room has the cardio and weight machines you’re familiar with at other gyms.
Basketball and Pickleball
The Raiders and Lady Raiders played here for nearly 40 years, and now you can too!
