2026 Three Rivers College Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

Sam Weaver — Men’s Basketball — 1977-79

Sam Weaver was named the MVP of the 1979 NJCAA National Tournament after scoring a career-high 34 points in Three Rivers’ double-overtime win in the semifinals against future Arkansas Razorbacks coach Nolan Richardson and his Western Texas squad that featured NBA standout Paul Pressey.

He averaged 12.8 points during his sophomore season as the Raiders won their first National Championship and finished with a 37-3 record.

Weaver earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Henderson State University in 1981 and his master’s degree in physical education from Southeast Missouri State in 1985.

He began his decades-long coaching career at SEMO (1981-87), where he helped guide the Indians to four regional championships, four conference titles, and a national runner-up finish in 1986.

Stephanie Dorris-Miller — Women’s Basketball — 1993-95

Stephanie Dorris-Miller was the first, and for nearly 30 years, only Lady Raider to get more than 300 career assists and was a two-time All-Region XVI selection.

She finished with 348 assists and 921 points in her career at Three Rivers, and at the time of her induction, she ranked first in career assists and 10th in career points. She was also seventh all-time in most two-point field goals (266) and 10th all-time in free throw attempts (293).

Her 234 assists as a sophomore also set a single-season record, and she is the only Lady Raider to have more than 200 assists in a season.

The 1994-95 Lady Raiders reached the National Tournament for the first time in program history.

Jack Childress — Softball/Volleyball/Women’s Basketball — 1990-2015

Jack Childress was a mainstay at Three Rivers for 25 years and at different times coached the volleyball, women’s basketball, and softball teams. Across three sports, Childress served as head coach for 47 seasons at Three Rivers and earned 1,107 total wins.

Childress took over the women’s basketball team in 1990 and finished with a career record of 379-202 over 20 years. Three Rivers finished with at least 20 wins 10 times and won a school record 29 games in 2004. The 1994-95 team was the first women’s basketball team at Three Rivers to reach the National Tournament.

He became the softball head coach in 1995 and led that program for 20 years, as well, and had a career record of 605-404.

Childress was the volleyball head coach from 1989-94, for one season in 2006, and had a career record of 123-140-10.

Alan Mahaffey — Baseball — 1992-94

Alan Mahaffey threw two no-hitters at Three Rivers and set a school record with a 1.28 ERA across 85 2/3 innings over two seasons.

He was named an All-American before moving on to the University of Arkansas, where he had 91 strikeouts over 100 innings with 42 walks in 19 appearances. He finished with a 9-5 record and a 4.50 ERA at Arkansas, and was drafted in the 16th round by the Minnesota Twins in 1995.

Mahaffey pitched six seasons in the minor leagues and played for Triple-A Salt Lake in the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

He coached the Springfield-based Midwest Nationals, where he coached two first-round draft picks and future CY Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel.

Danny Jake Baehr — Cheer — 2003-13

Jake Baehr was a fan favorite and personified Rocky Raider for 10 years, wrapping up his career in 2013 on the “Decade of Dominance Tour” donned as “The Most Winningest Mascot in Juco History,” given his longevity as Rocky Raider under Coach Gene Bess.

He also spent a season in Springfield as Louie the Redbird for the Springfield Cardinals in 2008, while continuing to be Rocky Raider and finishing his degree at Hannibal-Lagrange University.

Baehr helped train future mascots from 2007-10 while working for the Universal Cheerleading Association, representing Three Rivers College. He traveled and taught within the Southwest and Midwest divisions at Texas A&M University, University of Arkansas, and many other Division I institutions. Baehr also competed and placed in many UCA National Mascot championships.

When his time as Rocky came to an end, Baehr served as a Three Rivers Public Safety Officer from 2012-15, and could often be seen watching games from the sidelines in this new uniform cheering on the Raiders!
