Join us for a powerful and deeply personal presentation from Ricky Johnson, a Marine Corps veteran, national public speaker, and mental health advocate. This event will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, in the Lecture Hall of the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center.

Drawing from his own lived experiences, Ricky speaks candidly about perseverance, accountability, substance use, sexual trauma, mental health, and the impact of loss—including the suicide of his son.

Ricky’s approach is transparent, respectful, and grounded in hope. His goal is not to shame or judge, but to create space for honest conversation about consequences, resilience, and personal responsibility. Through storytelling and open dialogue, he challenges audiences to reflect on their choices, their character, and the ways we show up for ourselves and others.

Having presented more than 700 times at over 600 venues nationwide — including schools, military settings, treatment facilities, and correctional institutions — Ricky’s message resonates across diverse audiences. Questions are encouraged, and each session is shaped by meaningful engagement.

This event offers students a unique opportunity to hear a real story of tragedy and triumph, and to walk away with perspective, accountability, and hope.
