The Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts Society will round out its 2017-2018 season with a performance of “The Sleeping Beauty” by the Moscow Festival Ballet at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on Monday, April 30, at 7 p.m. The performance is sponsored by Kissinger & Kirkman Investment Centre.
“We’ve been fortunate to host some of the best Russian ballet companies in the world over the past few seasons, and it’s always a breathtaking performance,” said Robert Abney, Director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “It’s one of the most popular shows with all ages, and it’s the kind of show you’d have to spend $50 or more to see in St. Louis or Memphis.”
The Moscow Festival Ballet is famous for the talent, grace, and athleticism of its dancers. This year, the troupe will perform “The Sleeping Beauty,” widely considered the finest achievement of classical ballet. Through classic ballet choreography and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s memorable music, “The Sleeping Beauty” is the beloved tale of Princess Aurora, who is saved from a witch’s spell by a handsome prince.
The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when Sergei Radchenko, legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, sought to realize his vision of a company that would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet.
Tickets are $15 each and are available online at trcc.edu/tinnin and in person at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and the college Student Accounts Office. Tickets will be sold at the door, if any remain.
