Paramedics and LPNs now can enroll in the RN Bridge program at Three Rivers College at Sikeston.

The application deadline is Dec. 1 for the RN Bridge program at Sikeston.

Three Rivers’ RN Bridge program is a career-enhancement program designed to allow Missouri LPNs and Paramedics to earn an associate degree and prepare to apply for licensure by examination to become a registered nurse.

On average, registered nurses earn higher salaries, perform at higher skill levels, and enjoy more advancement opportunities than LPNs, said Dr. Sherry Phelan, Dean of Instruction/Chief Academic Officer at Three Rivers College. Salary information for RNs from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics can be found here: www.bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/registered-nurses.htm.

All Three Rivers nursing programs offer challenging coursework, close interaction with faculty, and diverse clinical experiences. The programs have proven pass rates for licensure exams and high job placement rates. These rates can be found on the Nursing Program application.

“The RN Bridge program offers our students career advancement possibilities, and we want to give every opportunity for students wanting to join the programs to apply,” Three Rivers Director of Nursing Laura McElroy said.

Students must complete an application and meet certain criteria to be admitted into Three Rivers’ nursing programs.

Applicants for the RN Bridge program must score 75% or better on the HESI A2 exam. RN Bridge students must score 700 or better on the HESI ADN (associate degree nurse) entrance exam. Information on testing is in the application packet. No specific classes must be completed to apply to the program. RN Bridge applicants must have a valid LPN or Paramedic license.

McElroy advises that all admissions materials, including official copies of transcripts from high school and other colleges, must be received by the December 1 deadline. Application forms for the RN Bridge program can be found online at trcc.edu/apply. Prospective students must also complete a free Three Rivers application.
