Spots are filling up fast for Three Rivers College’s 32nd Annual Children’s Theater Drama Camp.
Due to demand, Three Rivers is holding two one-week camps this year for kids entering grades second through eighth! The first camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. July 15-19 in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center, with the performance being held at 11 a.m. July 19. The second camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. July 22-26 in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center, with the performance being held at 11 a.m. July 26.
The deadline to register for either camp is July 8. Each camp is limited to 40 kids.
The cost is $75 per child, which includes a T-shirt, scripts, notebook, daily snack and drink, and LOADS of FUN! The camp is directed by JoNell Seifert. Register online (online fee applies), or download the registration form to mail in or drop off. Visit trcc.edu/events for registration details.
“It’s so much fun. It’s fun for the kids, it’s fun for the teachers. It’s just a great learning experience about theater,” Seifert said. “I’m so glad we’re doing two sessions. I think the kids love to perform.”
Campers this year will perform adaptations from a variety of stories, a dance number from a Broadway show, and a song from a separate Broadway show. The camp will cover theater essentials including improvisation, readers theater, theater games, and musical theater. Students will be performing a musical number with choreography.
“Students will learn about theater and collaborating with others all while having fun,” Seifert said. The camp also promotes self-confidence and a love for theater. “There’s nothing like live theater. I hope we instill a love for performance and get kids hooked on theater!”
