Three Rivers College recently awarded the annual Green Thumb Garden Club Scholarship to Samantha Pankey of Doniphan.

The Green Thumb Garden Club participates in Civic Beautification Efforts around the Poplar Bluff area. It plants pink tulips each fall at the Danny Bell Cancer Center, the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, and various other locations. It also has an annual plant swap each spring.

The Green Thumb Garden Club Scholarship is presented each year to a local Three Rivers Agriculture student.

Pankey intends to graduate in May 2026 and has already been accepted to Arkansas State University to continue her education. She intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with a minor in Precision Agriculture.

“My long-term goal is to become a high school Agriculture teacher and FFA sponsor,” Pankey said. “I have always wanted to be a teacher and have always had a great interest in the outdoors and agriculture. One day, I realized I could combine those passions, so I enrolled in college once again and haven’t looked back since. I look forward to one day helping shape the future of agriculture.”

Three Rivers students receive more than $14 million in financial aid each year, and all students are automatically considered for more than 280 scholarships by completing the application for admission and submitting their FAFSA. For more information, trcc.edu/pay-for-college/financial-aid/.
