The Three Rivers Endowment Trust recently awarded grants through its Excellence Fund, totaling nearly $5,000. These funds, earmarked through payroll deductions, other donations, and fundraising events, allow for a grant application process for Three Rivers College faculty and staff to request items to enhance the educational experience for students.
This year’s awards include:
- A Van De Graaf Generator to demonstrate the effects of electric fields and voltages for the physical science department.
- Anatomy & Physiology Models to accommodate increased class sizes of biology students, due to the expansion of the nursing programs.
- New whiteboards for a classroom that are utilized for college course instruction, in addition to external community partners throughout the year.
- Smart glasses for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals — providing real-time captions to break down communication barriers in Three Rivers College classrooms.
“We are proud to recognize and support the incredible work of our faculty and staff through these grant awards,” said Misty Burke, Chair of the Three Rivers Endowment Trust. “They strengthen our relationships with TRC staff and students.”
Added Dr. Leslie Gragg, Division Chair of General Education at Three Rivers College, “We are appreciative of the donors and Endowment Trust members who make it possible for us to apply for funds through the Excellence Fund grants. These awards allow faculty to directly enhance teaching, learning, and student success, funding projects which may not otherwise be available.”
