Three Rivers College and the Raider Rodeo Roundup Club have agreed to move forward with a proposal that Raider Rodeo Roundup Club presented at the most recent TRC Board of Trustees meeting on Aug. 26.

“We want them to succeed with all of their goals,” Three Rivers Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Amber Richardson said. “The Board was impressed by the level of detail and planning that went into this proposal. Success would mean a better future for our students and the community.”

In the proposal, the Raider Rodeo Roundup Club outlined a timeline where they would rebuild the Three Rivers rodeo program into a financially self-supporting program.

“We are committed to working with Three Rivers College and TRC Rodeo, our focus is on building a positive and productive partnership that supports the college, its students, and the future of collegiate rodeo,” said Tara Looney, Raider Rodeo Roundup Club Board Member. “We believe that by working together, communicating openly, and bringing together the support of alumni, community members, businesses and rodeo supporters, we can help create a strong and sustainable path forward for TRC Rodeo.

The Raider Rodeo Roundup Club committed to annual financial support while Three Rivers would continue to fulfill its role as the sponsoring institution.

“Rodeo runs deep in American history and stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Old West,” said Kristi Baker, Raider Rodeo Roundup Club Board Member. “It celebrates the skills, values, and traditions that shaped a nation and reflects the people of Southeast Missouri!”

“Rodeo has meant a lot to this College and this region over the years,” Three Rivers President Dr. Wesley Payne said. “We’re excited to give Raider Rodeo Roundup Club the opportunity to build something sustainable and show this program can stand on its own.”

“We look forward to working alongside college leadership and the broader community to help bring TRC Rodeo back and build a program that is self-sustaining for years to come,” Looney said.
