Workforce Development at Three Rivers College now offers a five-week Commercial Driving Training program that prepares students to successfully complete the test requirements for Missouri Class A CDL Driver License. Three Missouri programs are available to help qualified students complete this training free of charge.

“We are very excited to offer CDL training here at Three Rivers,” said Will Cooper, Department Chair of Career Studies and Workforce Development. “CDL drivers are always in demand and the jobs offer good pay and benefits. The state programs and grants available for this training make it a great opportunity.”

One of the available state grants is the Missouri Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant, which is a new type of financial aid program for adults. The grant addresses workforce needs by helping adults pursue a certificate, degree, or industry-recognized credential in an area designated as high need.

In addition to the CDL program, a wide variety of other programs at Three Rivers are eligible for this grant. Fast Track recipients must maintain Missouri residency and work in Missouri for three years after graduation to prevent the grant from becoming a loan that must be repaid with interest.

Qualified students can also receive free training through the SkillUp program, which is designed for Food Stamp recipients, and the TREAD program is open to Department of Corrections participants.

More information about each of these programs can be found on the Three Rivers website at trcc.edu/workforce.
