The Patrons of the Arts Society continues its 2017-18 season with Olé Music & Dance of Spain, a flamenco dance troupe that will perform at 7 p.m. March 29 at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the campus of Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff. The performance is sponsored by Las Margaritas, Maya’s, and Taco Taco.

Olé Music & Dance of Spain is based in Kansas City and is committed to the study and preservation of traditional flamenco music and dance. The performance at the Tinnin Center will feature an evening of colorful and lively flamenco dance styles performed by a diverse group of talented dancers and musicians in native Spanish costumes.

“Flamenco is an art form deeply rooted in Spanish folklore that expresses the most basic emotions of human feeling,” said Tamara La Garbancito Carson, the founder and artistic director of Olé Music & Dance of Spain. Carson established the troupe in 1994 with the goal of creating appreciation for Spanish dance and music, specifically flamenco.

“In selecting shows for the Tinnin Center, we strive to provide our audiences with cultural awareness as well as entertainment. This show provides both,” said Robert Abney, Director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “The music, dancing, and costumes of this show highlight Spanish traditions. It’s also a high-energy, visually exciting, very entertaining show.”

Tickets for Olé Music & Dance of Spain are $15 each. Buy tickets online at trcc.edu/tinnin or in person at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and the TRC Student Accounts Office. Tickets also will be sold at the door.
