Six Three Rivers College-Dexter students enrolled at the Bootheel Technical Training Center received an investment from the Dexter Chamber Foundation.

Jeremy Moss, Trenton Turner, Jaiden Creasy, Cameron Addis, Ja’Zion Winters, and Dewayne Avery each received a toolkit to help them get started in their careers. They are enrolled in welding or construction (HVAC and electrical focused) at TRC-Dexter.

“When most people hear the word ‘scholarship,’ they think of money. This scholarship is different,” said Alisha Trammel, executive director of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce. The Dexter Chamber Foundation provided funds for the scholarships. “We are helping provide the tools students need to enter the workforce in the trades.”

The Foundation is funded by Dexter Chamber members who choose to contribute an additional 10% of their annual dues. The funds are earmarked to support scholarships for workforce development programs, strengthening the local pipeline, and supporting the long-term success of the Dexter business community.

“This was such an innovative way to support our students, and we are incredibly grateful to the Dexter Chamber and Foundation for their vision,” said Michelle Reynolds, director of development at Three Rivers and liaison to the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, the 501(c)(3) that administered the award.

Kimberly Brooks, director of technical studies at Three Rivers, agreed. “These funds help provide six students with a good start to their equipment needs as they enter the workforce.”
