Three Rivers College awarded the Dylan James Miller Memorial Scholarship to Bailey Buttry and Matthew Riley. Both recently earned their Diesel Technology certificate.
This scholarship was created in memory of Miller, whose dream was to become a Certified Diesel Mechanic, and would have been starting classes in 2021 before he passed away at the age of 21.
“If we can help somebody, and bring some goodness out of a tragedy, this is the way to do it,” said Kim Miller, who started this scholarship to honor her son. “Even though Dylan was not able to realize his dream, we want to make sure others have the opportunity to realize theirs.”
The scholarship is administered by the Three Rivers Endowment Trust.
“We are honored that Dylan’s family chose to create a scholarship to honor his memory,” said Reynolds. “This will go a long way to helping our Diesel Technology students with tuition, fuel, tools, and many other things.”
Three Rivers students receive more than $13 million in financial aid each year, and all students are automatically considered for more than 280 scholarships by completing the application for admission and submitting their FAFSA. For more information, trcc.edu/pay-for-college/financial-aid/.
