Center Stage, the Three Rivers College community theater group, is holding auditions from 6-9 p.m. on June 3-4 at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers Poplar Bluff campus for roles in one of its fall shows, “Beauty and the Beast.” The director for this Center Stage production is Suzy Cowan.
Auditions for actors will be twofold—singing and cold reads. For the singing audition, the first verse and chorus of songs being performed must be accompanied and must be memorized. The selection for the singing audition should be a song that sits well in your voice, shows off your vocal range, and is similar in quality to what your preferred role would sing.
For the cold read audition, random candidates will be selected to read short scenes from the script on stage. Good diction, clarity, and projection of your reading, strong character choices, and overall chemistry with different actors will be considered.
Chorus members and behind-the-scenes crew are also needed.
Rehearsals will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, June 10 through September 5, except for dates which fall on holidays. Performances of “Beauty and the Beast” will be held September 6-8 and 13-15.
Those auditioning for roles in “Beauty and Beast” must bring a completed Audition Sheet, which can be found at trcc.edu/beauty, with them to the audition.
