Three Rivers College will host the HiSET® High School Equivalency Test at the Three Rivers College Kennett location on Saturday, October 26, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Registration for this test closes on October 24.
“The Three Rivers campus in Poplar Bluff normally offers the HiSET® test one Saturday each month,” said Diane Patterson, coordinator of the Testing Center at Three Rivers College. “But we wanted to offer the test in Kennett so that people in surrounding areas can have a chance to take the HiSET® closer to home.”
Three Rivers – Kennett is located at 1002 Great West Dr. in Kennett.
The HiSET® is an online test taken at a certified test center. Tests cover writing, essay, math, science, social studies, and reading. Once the test has been scheduled, it must be completed in its entirety within a 12-month period. The test can only be taken three times in a calendar year.
As of July 1, 2019, Missouri funds first-time test takers. If you have not taken any subtest(s) (math, science, social studies, writing, or reading), you may be able to take them for free. If you believe you are eligible, call ETS at 1-855-MyHiSET (1-855-694-4738) to schedule your subtest(s).
Because funding is limited, priority is being given to public test takers (non-institutional and non-option test takers) on a first-come-first-served basis. Any additional charges incurred are paid by the test taker. If you are eligible for this funding and have paid for your testing out of pocket, you may be eligible for a refund. Find out by
contacting ETS at 1-855-MyHiSET (1-855-694-4738).
Individual subtest costs are as follows:
- Computer-delivered tests: $17.75 ($10.75 ETS fee and $7 test center administration fee).
- Paper-delivered tests: $22 ($15 ETS fee and $7 test center administration fee).
A $10 state administration fee will be charged when you register for your first subtest. This is an annual fee and will be collected once every 12 months. You will receive two retests per subtest purchased. If you need to retake a subtest you must pay the $7 test center fee.
Please log in to your HiSET account or create one at http://hiset.ets.org/myhiset, or call ETS Customer Service at 1-855-MyHiSET (1-855-694-4738) for more information.
Those interested in taking HiSET® classes before the test should call the Poplar Bluff Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Center at 573-686-2011, between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon, Monday through Thursday, for more information or to locate an AEL center near you.
“Students are not required to take classes before taking the test, but it could be beneficial in passing the test the first time around,” said Patterson. “There is an abundance of information on hiset.ets.org, including overviews of tests, practice tests, and information on how to create your account.”
