A Gideon student was awarded the Karon Campbell Distinguished Alumni Scholarship by the Three Rivers Endowment Trust.
Darian Muse, who is in her third semester of the nursing program at Three Rivers, was selected to receive the funding. The scholarship was made possible by donations in honor of Karon Campbell of Qulin, recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award at Three Rivers. Campbell requested the donations benefit a nursing student who was first in their family to attend college.
“It’s been great here,” said Muse, who plans to graduate in May. “I have learned a lot and really like the clinical experiences.”
Muse said that she always knew she wanted to attend college, and that it has been difficult without family completely understanding what it’s like to balance college life. “I’m really grateful for this award,” she said.
This scholarship represents some of the more than $60,000 awarded to students this fall by the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, a 501(c)(3) organization that receives and manages donations on behalf of Three Rivers College. The Endowment Trust provides a mutually beneficial means for individuals and businesses to partner with the College.
