Three Rivers College Professor of Music Cindy White was recently named Outstanding College Music Educator by the Southeast Missouri portion of the Missouri Music Educators Association.

White is the inaugural recipient of the new award. Almost 70 educators in Southeast Missouri were nominated for 11 different awards.

“I am honored to be recognized by my peers for all the hard work we do at Three Rivers,” White said. “We strive to create a supportive learning environment while providing performance opportunities, and workshops to inspire creativity.”

The Three Rivers Music Department hosts student concerts and recitals, as well as the College’s choir and band groups. It held six performances during the 2024-25 school year, including student showcases, concerts, and the annual Jazz Festival.

Three Rivers also includes members of the community in many of its events. The Three Rivers College Band is comprised of adults, college students, high school students, and middle school students, and includes White as a longtime member.

Three Rivers hosts a variety of events throughout the year featuring high school and middle school students. Students can participate in annual Jazz Band clinics and concerts, the High School Band Festival, the Missouri State High School Activities Association District Solo and Small Ensemble Festival, the State Large Ensemble Festival, and in cooperation with three area high schools this past December, Three Rivers held the premier performance of a composition written by TRC student Antony Hawks.
