Three Rivers College is pleased to announce the addition of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program at its Sikeston location. The Missouri State Board of Nursing approved the new program this week. The first 30-seat cohort will begin in January 2020 with an application deadline of October 1, 2019. The College will assume control of the program from Sikeston public schools, whose final class will graduate Summer 2019.

“We’re very excited to offer such a well-established, high-quality LPN program,” said Dr. Wesley Payne, President of Three Rivers College. “The Sikeston school system has done a fantastic job over the years, and we look forward to continuing to produce highly skilled LPNs well into the future.”

The new LPN program will complement the existing LPN-RN Bridge program at Three Rivers’ Sikeston location. The Bridge program allows LPNs to earn an associate degree and prepare to apply for licensure by examination as a registered nurse.

“When this opportunity arose, we knew it was a perfect fit for the College,” said Dr. Staci Foster, Three Rivers College Department Chair of Nursing and Allied Health. “We also knew bringing the program to Three Rivers was the right thing to do for the community.”

Foster added that students will now be able to pursue the LPN program, and then the RN program, all in the same building.

“I am thrilled to bring the LPN program to Three Rivers – Sikeston. The program is essential in supporting the medical community in the Sikeston and Southeast Missouri region,” said Missy Marshall, Director of Three Rivers College – Sikeston. “In addition, we believe our students will find their road to becoming an RN has been streamlined because they can now do everything right here.”

Foster advises that all admissions materials, including official copies of transcripts from high school and other colleges, must be received by the appropriate deadline. Application forms for the Nursing programs can be found online at trcc.edu/admissions/application. Prospective students must also complete a free Three Rivers application.
