Three Rivers College will hold an active shooter training at the Poplar Bluff Campus today. The event will be held in cooperation with the College, local law enforcement, emergency medical services, the Poplar Bluff Fire Department, and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

People in the vicinity of the Three Rivers Campus should expect to see the presence of law enforcement officers, emergency vehicles, and a helicopter. The public is strongly advised that this is a planned, controlled event, and there is no cause for alarm.

“Multi-agency training is the best way to prepare the College and our community for high-risk situations,” said Three Rivers Chief of Staff Chuck Stratton. “Three Rivers has held similar drills in the past as a way to help prepare our community for all emergencies.”

The active shooter training is being coordinated by Tami Cunningham, Three Rivers Director of Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science, and Chuck Stratton, Three Rivers Chief of Staff. They can be reached at tcunningham@trcc.edu, and cstratton@trcc.edu.

Local news outlets are invited to attend but will be treated according to crisis procedures while the training is active, and reporters are asked not to disrupt the training while it is in progress. Reporters wishing to cover the event should contact Three Rivers College at 573-840-9660 or email sborkgren@trcc.edu beforehand.
