Note: This letter to the editor was written by the Three Rivers Endowment Trust Board Chair Christy Frazier-Moore.

The Three Rivers Endowment Trust is grateful to our community for their continued generous investments in scholarships.

This fall, more than $55,000 was awarded to assist Three Rivers College students financially as they pursue their degrees.

One of the thank you letters, received by student Lindsey Yoebstl who received the Ruth R. Bloodworth Memorial Scholarship, is below:

Thank you for this scholarship that you have provided me! I am very thankful for this opportunity. I am currently 24 years old and in my last year of College for the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program. I am a newlywed and just recently had to go from full-time to part-time (only a couple days a month) in order to pursue my degree. I currently work at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in the Surgical Services Department as a data analyst and help in any way that I can.

My goal is to work as an OTA in pediatrics. As an OTA, I would assist the children, and their parents, in therapeutic goals and interventions in order to achieve better independence in their everyday life and activities. I had plans of becoming an Occupational Therapist, but due to some bumps in the road, I’m here in the OTA program and could not be more thrilled. This path has been my dream since before I graduated high school. I am passionate about helping others achieve their goals and this job is the perfect career to do that.

This scholarship is a great help to me and my husband. Since going part-time, our income has drastically lowered. Your generosity allows us to not worry as much about where or how we will get the money. You have given us a peace of mind and something to be joyful about. Thank you for being a part of my dream and helping me achieve it. We will always be grateful and will remember your generosity.

On behalf of the Endowment Trust, I want to invite you to join me in making an impact in the lives of students. Scholarship donations may be made to our general funds, a one-time gift for honorary or memorial named scholarships, or endowed gifts to make perpetual awards. No matter the amount, it is an investment in the future of our community.

Contributions may be mailed to the Endowment Trust, 2080 Three Rivers Blvd., Poplar Bluff, MO, 63901. For more information, call 573-840-9077, or email endowment@trcc.edu.

Sincerely,

Christy Frazier-Moore
