Student Complaint Resolution

When a complaint is not resolved at this level, the student will be given the option to file an appeal with the Chief Student Services Officer, please refer to College regulation SR 2140 Student Appeals for details. In rare cases when all other forms of resolution have been exhausted and the student believes their status at the College has been adversely affected by an incorrect or inappropriate decision or behavior, the student may consider filing a grievance, refer to College regulation SR 2130 Student Grievance for details.

If a concern cannot be resolved to the student’s satisfaction through the College’s Student Appeals process or, if applicable, the College’s Grievance process, the student may seek additional assistance by filing a complaint with the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development or the Higher Learning Commission.

Students residing in Missouri may pursue the complaint process established by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, as applicable, by contacting info@dhewd.mo.gov.

Students enrolled in distance education programs and taking online courses who believe that a complaint has not been sufficiently addressed through the College’s internal appeal and/or grievance procedures may pursue an external complaint resolution process, as applicable.

Students who reside in a SARA member state may utilize the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) Student Complaint Process by contacting the State Portal Entity for Missouri or their home state. Information regarding state complaint contacts and applicable procedures is available through the SARA State Portal Entity Contacts.

Students residing in California should follow California’s applicable complaint resolution procedures.

Students should complete the applicable College procedures before pursuing an external complaint, unless otherwise provided by applicable law, regulation, or the requirements of the appropriate complaint resolution authority.
