Three Rivers College is closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. Our primary concern is to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students, employees, and visitors. We continue to work with state and local officials to develop, update, and implement plans in response to COVID-19.
This page contains information about Three Rivers College’s preparations, actions, and response regarding COVID-19, including information about the virtual resources we are providing to our students. This page will be updated as needed.
College Locations Open
All College locations are now open to the public but we will continue to provide virtual services. Face-to-face classes will resume August 16 at the Poplar Bluff campus and TRC locations in Sikeston, Dexter, Kennett, and Cape Girardeau.
RETURN TO CLASS PLAN
The Three Rivers College Return to Class Plan includes requiring face coverings be worn in TRC facilities, guidelines for students returning to classrooms, and additional information. Following are highlights of the plan. See the full Return to Class Plan for details.
ADJUSTED COLLEGE CALENDAR
The Fall schedule will not be adjusted unless dictated by critical events.
FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED
Face coverings must be worn by faculty, staff, students, and visitors while in each building whether they are vaccinated or not. Face coverings are not required when working in your office if you remain properly social distanced (6 feet). Face coverings are required at all times in the classroom and absolutely no eating or drinking is allowed in classrooms, unless all students and the faculty member can maintain a social distance of at least six (6) feet. Instructors who can maintain a social distance of six (6) feet or greater from students are not required to wear facial coverings. See the full Return to Class Plan for details and exceptions.
For visitors and others who need a face covering, a limited amount of disposable face coverings will be available during regular hours at Academic Resource Commons – Front Desk; Bess Activity Center – The College Store; Crisp Technology Center – Room 108; External Locations – Front Desk; Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center – Room 219; Porter Distance Learning Center – Room 204; Tinnin Fine Arts Center – Room 201; Westover Administration Building – Welcome Center; and University Center – WEST 204.
Face coverings must cover the nose and mouth and against the sides of the face and be secured around the head as a tube, with ties, or with ear loops. It is the responsibility of each student and employee to have their face covering available and properly maintained. Not acceptable: Bandanas, kerchiefs, articles of clothing, face coverings with exhalation valves, items held against the face by hand.
GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS PREPARING FOR RETURN
Whether vaccinated or not, two weeks prior to return, begin to isolate yourself from others. Avoid all public settings where you cannot maintain a social distance of 6 feet. Begin to monitor your health and take your temperature daily. Report any unusual feelings or readings to your health care provider or local health department for guidance.
If you experience symptoms of fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, and/or persistent, non-attributable cough, STAY HOME AND CONTACT YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER.
When coming to class, bring facial coverings, hand sanitizer, and products to wipe down your personal items such as books, book bags, phone, etc. before and after your classes.
Update your address, emergency contact information, vehicle information and phone number with the College, if you have not already done so.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE GOING TO CLASS EACH DAY
Students, faculty, and staff should complete the following self-assessment each day before arriving at TRC facilities:
- Check for symptoms (fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell, persistent, non-attributable cough).
- Consult with household members to see if they are having any of these symptoms.
- Put on your facial covering.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, STAY HOME! If you are an employee, contact your supervisor and the Human Resources Department. If you are a student, notify your instructor(s) and the Dean of Student Services at email@example.com or by calling 573-840-9669.
Seating will be assigned. Supplies will be provided to each faculty member so keyboards and computer mice can be wiped down with a disinfectant before the beginning of each class of instruction. Hand sanitizer will be available in each classroom.
An area will be defined by each instructor where he/she will maintain social distancing with students, when not wearing a facial covering.
Students required to quarantine will be allowed to continue courses virtually if physically able. If the continuation of instruction is not possible, then the student will be allowed to make up all work without penalty.
If an instructor is required to quarantine and is healthy enough to continue working, they will be allowed to continue instruction virtually during quarantine.

ADVISING AND FACULTY OFFICE VISITS
When possible, appointments should be conducted via telephone or virtually. To schedule a virtual advising appointment, go to trcc.edu/admissions/advising. If students prefer a face-to-face meeting, proper facial covering should be in place. Three Rivers email will continue to be the official means of communications between students and faculty/staff.
All public events will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
GENERAL COLLEGE FACILITIES
- Hand sanitizer is available in every building on campus, external locations, at entryways and various hallways.
- Drinking fountains will be disabled. Touchless bottle fill stations will remain operable.

RETURNING AFTER A PRECAUTIONARY QUARANTINE
Individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 are required to quarantine for ten (10) days. Exposure is defined as firsthand exposure to someone, for a period of fifteen (15) minutes or more within a twenty-four (24) hour period, when neither one was wearing a facial covering, who has tested positive for or been diagnosed as positive for COVID-19.
A return to work/school can be made after 7 days with a negative test result.
Anyone exposed to COVID-19 and who meets the following criteria does NOT need complete a precautionary quarantine period:
- Been fully vaccinated and shows no symptoms of COVID-19
- Had COVID-19 within the previous 3 months and
- Has recovered and
- Remains without COVID-19 symptoms
Students who are required to quarantine will be allowed to continue to participate in instruction remotely. Students not able to participate remotely will be allowed to make up any missed work without penalty. Employees who are required to quarantine will be allowed to work remotely when possible. Each instance will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
RETURNING AFTER TESTING POSITIVE
Individuals who present some or all the symptoms of COVID-19, MUST stay home and are encouraged to arrange for testing with their health care provider or local Health Department.
The latest guidance mandates people who test positive for COVID-19 should isolate for at least ten (10) days after the onset of symptoms. Isolation can end after the ten (10) day period and the patient shows a general improvement in symptoms, including being fever free for at least 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medicines.
Asymptomatic patients can end isolation 10 days after the date of their first positive test.
All positive tests require documentation to return to campus.
Other elements of the plan include:
- Enhanced cleaning protocols.
- Protocols for dining areas, campus meetings, and travel.

The Welcome Center can help you with general information questions, login and password reset issues, financial aid questions, etc. It is located on the 1st Floor of the Westover Administration Building on the Poplar Bluff campus. Call 573-840-9605 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Summer hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday. The College will be closed on Fridays during the months of June and July.
Virtual and face-to-face registration is now open for all students for Fall classes at Three Rivers College. New and current students may speak with an advisor virtually through a Zoom meeting by appointment. Financial Aid advisors are also available via Zoom by appointment. To schedule an appointment, go to trcc.edu/admissions/virtualadvising. If you don’t have Zoom on your device, follow the prompts to install. Zoom advising sessions can be used to get your education plan and schedule approved, make changes to your education plan and schedule, and ask questions.
To register online, current students can log into their myTRCC account, review the schedule their advisor has prepared for them or create their own schedule, and contact their advisor to discuss any changes or confirm the schedule. Advisors can then approve the schedules virtually and registration can be completed online by current students or advisors. For issues or questions, email EnrollNow@trcc.edu.

Virtual and face-to-face assistance with Financial Aid is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. In addition, you can meet with a financial aid advisor via Zoom by appointment. To schedule your appointment, go to trcc.edu/admissions/virtualadvising.
Wi-Fi Access Available on Campus and at Locations
Three Rivers has set up Wi-Fi networks for students and employees accessible on the Poplar Bluff Campus, 2080 Three Rivers Blvd., from the main parking lot and the Porter parking lot; in the parking lots at TRC-Dexter, 515A West Market in Dexter; and TRC-Kennett, 1002 Great West Drive in Kennett; and in the circle drive in front of TRC-Sikeston, 1400 S. Main in Sikeston. These are password protected networks. Check your email for information on how to access these Wi-Fi networks.

Distance Learning Support
Distance Learning Support will be available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Call 573-840-9544 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) offers distance tutoring through Blackboard and face-to-face assistance on the 2nd Floor of the Academic Resource Commons on the Poplar Bluff campus. Every student has access to the TLC Distance Tutoring page, where you can post questions on the discussion board or submit a paper for review by a tutor. If you need more assistance, contact the TLC via email at email@example.com or by phone at 573-840-9638, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and we will put you in direct contact with an appropriate tutor.
Three Rivers’ Rutland Library offers a number of electronic resources to assist students in research and assignments, and staff members are available to answer questions via email, phone, chat, and text. To get to the library’s resources and find ways to communicate with staff, go to library.trcc.edu. There you will find both electronic resources and ways to ask questions remotely. The library collections are available for check-out 7:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. “Holds” may be placed on items for later pick up.
Requesting books from other Mobius libraries is also possible; but remember that libraries across Missouri and adjoining states are opening gradually or are not yet open at all. If you have a question about whether or not a Mobius library is open and processing loans, please contact the library via one of its remote messaging methods.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of
- Shortness of breath
How can you protect yourself and others?
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Wash for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
- Stay home if you are sick. For classes/labs still meeting face-to-face, email your instructors to let them know and ask about assignments.
- If you have a fever, go home immediately and do not return to campus until the fever has subsided for 24 hours.
- If possible, avoid close contact with people who are sick. When sick, keep your distance from others to keep germs from spreading.
- Keep hand sanitizer or wipes with you.
- Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Cough or sneeze into your sleeve or a disposable tissue.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth to prevent infection.
- Regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in your home, at the College, and at your place of employment.
