A girl in the forest

Associate of Arts in Forestry

Explore the Outdoors with an Associate of Arts in Forestry!
Love the outdoors and want a career that takes you beyond the classroom? Our Associate of Arts degree in Forestry is the perfect fit for students who are passionate about natural resources and ready to get their boots on the ground.

Through hands-on, field-based courses, you’ll learn essential forest management and technical skills while working directly in the woods—not just reading about them. From tree identification and timber cruising to land mapping and ecosystem management, our program prepares you for real work in forestry-related industries or a smooth transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Forestry.

Graduates in forestry and natural resources can pursue careers in:

  • Forest and timber management
  • Wildlife habitat and conservation
  • Forest inventory and GIS mapping
  • Environmental consulting
  • Wildland fire management
  • Recreation and public lands management

These careers exist with federal, state, and private employers throughout Missouri and the Midwest.

Students in the Three Rivers Forestry program gain valuable real-world experience through internships and seasonal positions with agencies such as:

  • U.S. Forest Service
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC)
  • State and federal land management agencies
  • Private forestry and natural resource companies

These internships allow students to:

  • Work directly with professional foresters and biologists
  • Conduct field measurements and forest inventories
  • Assist with habitat management and conservation projects
  • Build connections that lead to future employment

Many students secure seasonal or full-time positions after completing internships, giving them a head start in the forestry and conservation workforce.
