Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts and the Rodgers Theatre to host award-winning bluegrass/gospel ensemble

Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts and the Rodgers Theatre have partnered to present Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, an award-winning progressive bluegrass/gospel ensemble. The group will perform at 7 p.m. November 3 at the Rodgers Theatre. Lawson is an International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame inductee, and the band is known for their excellent blend of musicianship and harmonies. The event is sponsored by Fox Radio; Poplar Bluff Realty, Inc.; and First Midwest Bank.

The classic play “Alice in Wonderland” to be performed at Three Rivers College

Center Stage, the Three Rivers College community theater group, will perform “Alice in Wonderland” November 1 – 3 at 7 p.m. and November 4 at 2 p.m. at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. This play tells the topsy-turvy tale of Alice, who must find her way through a maze of incredible and suspenseful adventures to discover a thief and save the White Rabbit.

Three Rivers College welcomes Southeast Missouri State University for concert event

The Three Rivers College Music Department will host a concert, “Imagine: Connections,” featuring the Southeast Wind Symphony and University Choir from Southeast Missouri State University at 7 p.m. October 22 at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. Three Rivers choral and band students, along with community band members, will join the choir and wind ensemble from Southeast Missouri State University for a closing number.

Three Rivers College opens nominations for 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award

Three Rivers College is now accepting nominations for its 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award. The award recognizes the accomplishments and achievements of the College’s graduates and former students. The award will be presented at a recognition reception hosted by the College in spring 2019. The nomination deadline for the award is November 14. Nominations can be submitted at trcc.edu/distinguished.

Three Rivers College is currently accepting applications for the Practical Nurse Program on the Poplar Bluff campus. The application deadline has been extended to October 15 at 4 p.m. Classes will run from January 2019 through December 2019.

Tyson Tibbs of Poplar Bluff has been awarded the Arnold Duncan Memorial Scholarship. Tibbs, a 2017 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School, is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Three Rivers College. He is the son of Brian and Lori Tibbs of Poplar Bluff. The scholarship is in the memory of Arnold Duncan, who was the COE/MCE coordinator at Poplar Bluff High School for 30 years.

Amy Ramback of Fisk has been awarded the Richard Thomas Memorial Scholarship at Three Rivers College. Ramback, a 1993 graduate of Twin Rivers High School, is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice at Three Rivers College. The scholarship was established in the memory of Richard Thomas by his family and is awarded to a nontraditional student each fall.

Hager Joins Three Rivers College Board of Trustees

The Three Rivers College Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Tim Hager of Van Buren to fill the vacancy created with the passing of Randy Grassham. The appointment was confirmed at the Board of Trustees meeting in September. Hager will serve as the trustee for Sub-District Two until April 2020, when an election will be held to fill the remainder of Grassham’s term.

Ray Charles & Company—A Tribute Starring Willie Nash to perform at Three Rivers College

The Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts presents Ray Charles & Company—A Tribute Starring Willie Nash. This Ray Charles tribute concert will be held on October 18 at 7 p.m. at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff. In this show, direct from Branson, Willie Nash perfectly conveys the image, personality, and vivid talent of the rhythm and blues legend Ray Charles.

Sterling Pharmacy Championship College Rodeo to be held October 11-13

Three Rivers College and the Sikeston Jaycees will hold the Sterling Pharmacy Championship College Rodeo October 11-13. The event will be held at the Art Saunders Arena at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. each night, with the rodeo beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12; and free for ages 3 and younger. Three Rivers students and employees will be admitted for $5 by showing their TRC ID.

Application Deadline Extended for LPN-to-RN Bridge Program at Three Rivers College

The application deadline for Three Rivers’ LPN-to-RN Bridge program in Sikeston and the Poplar Bluff day program has been extended. The application deadline, previously September 1, has been moved to September 17 to allow prospective students more time to apply for the program.

Local Poplar Bluff Student Receives Ozark Federal Credit Union Scholarship to Attend Three Rivers

Subrina Berger of Poplar Bluff has received the Ozark Federal Credit Union Scholarship to attend Three Rivers College this Fall. Subrina is married to Christopher Berger and is the daughter of G. Dewayne Robison of Poplar Bluff and Glenda Forbes of Collinsville, IL. She is a 1986 graduate of Poplar Bluff Senior High School and plans to study Elementary Education while at Three Rivers.

Three Rivers Kicks off 2018-2019 Athletics Season with “Meet the Raiders Night”

Three Rivers College will launch its 2018-2019 athletics season with its annual “Meet the Raiders Night” event on Monday, September 10. There will also be a meal sponsored by the Three Rivers Booster Club beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to the event is free, and a meal ticket is $5 for non-students.

Cape Student Receives Paul & Joe Anne Ripley Scholarship to Attend Southeast

Garrett Todd Orr of Cape Girardeau has received the Paul & Joe Anne Ripley Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University. Orr is the son of Kim and Jeana Orr of Doniphan and is a 2017 graduate of Doniphan High School. Orr graduated from Three Rivers College with an Elementary Education Degree and plans to begin Southeast in the Fall.

Registration Deadline Nears for Fall Classes at Three Rivers

Students looking to start classes at Three Rivers College should act quickly to enroll before the Fall registration deadline, according to officials at the College. Online and on-site registration will close at end of day August 10 at the Poplar Bluff campus at TRC, locations in Sikeston, Dexter, Kennett, and at the Cape College Center. The Fall semester starts on Monday, August 13.

Three Rivers to Host ‘Run 4 the Arts’ Four-Mile Run/Walk

Three Rivers College and the Three Rivers Endowment Trust will host the third annual “Run 4 the Arts” four-mile run/walk or one-mile walk at 9 a.m., Saturday, September 8, at the Three Rivers College Poplar Bluff Campus. All monies raised will continue to fund an endowed scholarship held by the Three Rivers Endowment Trust for Music and Art students attending Three Rivers College. Sponsorship opportunities are also currently available.

The exam will be offered at Three Rivers College’s Dexter location on Saturday, September 15, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The registration period for this test closes on September 13. Three Rivers – Dexter is located at 515A W. Market, Dexter.

Weather has forced changes in the schedule for the District J Playoff featuring the Three Rivers College Lady Raiders Softball Team. The games at Rains Field are now set for noon May 5; 30 minutes following Game 1; and, if a third game is needed, noon May 6. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for high school and college students with ID, and free for ages 6 and younger.

Brayden Armes wins Three Rivers College’s Southeast Missouri Regional Spelling Bee

Brayden Armes, a seventh-grader from St. Joseph Catholic School in Farmington is the champion of the Three Rivers College Southeast Missouri Regional Spelling Bee. Armes now advances to compete in the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee in the Washington, D.C., area. It will be broadcast on ESPN channels May 29-31.
