Three Rivers College and Center Stage present “Shrek The Musical”
Center Stage, the Three Rivers College community theater group, will perform “Shrek The Musical” at 7 p.m. September 4, 5, 11, 12, and 2 p.m. September 5, 6, 12, 13 in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers campus.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.
This tale features an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand—and his name is Shrek.
Suzanne Cowan, director of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, directs this Center Stage production, which includes special performers from The Dance Studio.
“’What makes us special makes us strong,’ is the message of Shrek the Musical,” said Cowan. “I am incredibly proud of our talented cast and crew and the hard work they have put into bringing this message, and this wonderful story, to life on stage.”
Tickets are $10 and will go on sale August 7 at TRC Student Accounts, Tinnin Center Art Gallery, and online at tinnin.ticketleap.com ($1.50 fee per ticket for online sales). Tickets will also be sold at the door, as available. All seats are reserved.
“’Shrek The Musical’ is going to be great fun for the entire family,” said Robert Abney, Director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “You would be hard pressed to find a show of this quality for such a low ticket price.”
"Shrek The Musical" is rated G. Face coverings will be required for all attendees.
