Three Rivers College classes are back in session, except face-to-face classes at the Cape College Center, which will be on Spring Break March 16-27.

What happened?

The College is the victim of a ransomware cyberattack. We have been working with a national third-party computer firm that specializes in assisting victims of ransomware cyberattacks. In conjunction with this firm, we have been working diligently to investigate the College computer systems and restore the disrupted services. Based on the current results of this investigation, there is NO EVIDENCE THAT DATA WAS STOLEN OR MISUSED. Unfortunately, the attack has encrypted a significant portion of our files and made it necessary to suspend some computer services. Please know that Three Rivers is working diligently to restore our systems. Now that classes have resumed, the College will work with students on assignments, due dates, and exams so that no student is negatively impacted as a result of this event. Classes resumed on March 16.

Latest Developments

  • As a precautionary measure, the College is requiring all students to reset their passwords by 5 p.m. Thursday March 19. Your new password must be a minimum of 12 characters (max. 20) and include at least one each of the following: lowercase letters (a-z), uppercase letters (A-Z), numerals (0-9), and symbols (! # $ % _). To reset your password, using a web browser, go to trcc.edu and click on the gold banner at the top of the page. It may take a few minutes to load the password reset page. You will then type in your username (which is your complete TRC email address, including @mymail.trcc.edu), your current password, your new password, and then confirm your new password. Then click the “Change Password” button. You can also change your password from any student lab computer at our Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, Dexter, and Kennett locations, by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL (after you login) and choosing the “Change a Password” option. Password changes may take up to 30 minutes to synchronize with Office 365. Note that you cannot change your password using Office 365 at this time, but must use one of the methods above. If you have not changed your password by 5 p.m. on March 19, you will need to contact the Welcome Center at 573-840-9605 or in person on the first floor of the Westover Building in order to do so.
