POLITICAL SCIENCE

You can complete this pathway to an associate degree:

  • Fully online
  • At the Poplar Bluff campus
  • At our locations in Dexter, Kennett, and Sikeston (through face-to-face, ITV, and online classes)

Overview

Political science is devoted to understanding the processes by which human beings create and maintain communities and the values of those communities, such as order, liberty, equality, justice, and prosperity.

Political science careers include jobs in government, law, education, business, journalism, and the non-profit sector. These careers require skills such as analyzing and formulating arguments, identifying research strategies, evaluating data, working cooperatively with others, and having an appreciation for multiple and diverse points of view.

A bachelor's degree is required to advance in most political science careers, and the completion of a graduate degree program can help political scientists stand out in a crowded job market. Political science is a popular major for those wanting to apply to law school.

Three Rivers' Associate of Arts degree, Political Science pathway is designed to prepare you for transfer to a baccalaureate program at a four-year university.
